The descendents of John and Jane McLaren
COMPLIMENTARY DINNER TO MR J. M. MCLAREN,
Last night a complimentary dinner was given by a number of friends to Mr John M. McLaren, J.P., at the Midland Hotel, Bradford, on the occasion on his leaving Bradford to reside at Leamington. Mr Gustave Hoffman, J.P., presided, and the vice-chair was occupied by Dr T. W. Hime.
Among those also present were Messrs G. Hodgson, B. Cohen, G. B. Gordon, Swire Smith. Edelstein, Edward Briggs, Whitehead (Baildon), Wm. Hutton (Eccleshill), J. Maddocks, R. Hattersley, Geo. Armitage, J. Smithson, J. Denby, A. Lee (Dewsbury), Wm. Lord, J. E. Booth, A. Quitzow, J. Holden, J. Sichel, and Drs. Johnson and Birnie. A number of letters of apology for inability to attend were read. Mr Hoffman proposed the toast of the evening-"Our Guest."
He remarked that Mr McLaren had been for 37 years in business in Bradford, and during that time had gained the esteem and regard of a large number of gentlemen with whom his business relations had brought him into contact.He had in a quiet and unostentatious manner rendered valuable service to the town, and had made a large number of loyal friends.
