The Family trees of Rileys and Dinneens
Riley family tree
This is the direct family tree of the Riley branch of the family going backwards from Thomas Riley born in 1906. Some things to note with it, is that six of eight grandparents of Thomas Riley were Scottish, with only John Riley and Elizabeth Haley coming from England. When Lawrence Riley and Clara McDonald met in 1901 in Montreal it's possible that they might have bonded over a shared Scottish heritage, but this is not known. It gets increasingly difficult to trace further records without visiting archives as records before these ancestors are not comprehensive or reliable.
Dinneen family tree
This is the direct family tree of the ancestors of Madeline Joan Dineen born in 1909. This is a largely Irish branch of the family. It's not yet been possible to trace the mother of Eliza Harriss, partly because South African records are not currently comphrehensive or accessible. It's also not been possible to trace Irish relatives further back than the 1800s since many records were destroyed in the Irish Civil War. Increasingly more records are being released through the internet and it may be possible to go back further still in the coming years.
